I think you went too far in the other direction, slowing the pacing a little too much/going a little to far into Vic's past straightaway. If you could find a happy medium between the last draft I read/this draft it would be perfect.
It was good though! Vic's motivation was crystal clear in exactly the way I wanted. And Alicia had way more character this time around, which was cool.
