"Once upon a time there was a princess of a ruined land. When she turned 16, she look her favorite falcon and traveled the world.
She saw many destroyed cities, and she saw too the people she was going to rule over someday. They were diseased, suffering, and ultimately dying.
When she came back to the capital, she said to her father, the king; "I wish to help my people".
The King merely laughed, because he was a cruel man who wished only for her to marry well, and he struck out at her falcon.
The falcon died.
Out of grief, the Princess ran away to live in the ruins among her people. There she passed her days grieving as everyone else grieved.
One day, an old woman told her of an ultramarine blue stone that allowed one to reach out to their dead loved ones.
The Princess dug into the earth, and brought up a soft stone the color of a gold-flecked sea. She held it close to her chest and let the sound of her heartbeat move through the stone. When she closed her eyes, she could hear the cry of her beloved falcon.
The Princess was never alone again."
